Audition Proof Accents
Welcome Actors! Get ready to begin the process of finding your audition proof accent.
Here are the steps you will need to take to prepare for the class.
1) Choose your character. You only need to prepare one character. There are three possible scenes. Choose either character A,B,C,D,E, or F, but please choose only one.
2) Choose the accent. This can be an accent that you know and want to perfect, an accent you’ve always wanted to work on, or an accent inspired by reading through the scenes. All the scenes are available to download below.
3) Choose your Vocal Role Model. Refer to the “Guide to Finding your Vocal Role Model” PDF at the bottom of the page. Scroll down to submit a link (video) of your model at least 24 hours before the start of class.
4) Prepare your sides in accent. No need to get off book, but you will want to be familiar with the text. Use the “Guide to Finding your Vocal Role Model” to find the position of the lips, jaw, cheeks, and tongue (Vocal Tract Posture) and practice in front of a mirror to observe your mouth in action. Let’s do this.
5) Please submit the following info at least 24 hours before the start of class. This information is only for accent learning purposes and is confidential between you and your dialect coach.
